A Grade: Kensington vs Northern Districts – Park 25 – West End One Day Cup
Kensington secured an impressive win over Northern Districts in the opening round of the West End One Day Cup taking place over the weekend. After winning the toss, captain Josh Doyle led with a strong 79 off 92 balls, well supported by contributions from new recruits. Irish recruit Stephen Doheny made an explosive 70 from 57 balls, and Jason Sangha added a classy 59. Kensington posted a solid total of 306 from 50 overs.
In reply, Northern Districts started well and it was looking like hard work for Kensington as Northern’s reached 4-239, but a disciplined bowling performance turned the tide. Seb McVann (3-67) and young gun Ryan Percival (2-21) were instrumental in pegging Northern’s back. Sangha also impressed with the ball, taking 3 wickets with his leg spin whilst Dublin native Doheny was sharp behind the stumps with two catches and a stumping. Kensington bowled Northern Districts out for 283 to win by 23 runs.

B Grade: Kensington vs Sturt – Price Memorial Oval
Kensington narrowly lost a close contest against Sturt in their one-day fixture in the B Grade. After winning the toss and batting first, Kensington was bowled out for 206 in 48.2 overs.
The standout batting performance came from Shivam Channa, who entertained with an impressive 91 from 87 deliveries, including 7 towering sixes. Darcy McRostie 22 and skipper Tom Mackenzie 38 were able to get starts but 206 never quite felt like enough.
In the chase, Sturt achieved the target of 207 in 42.4 overs. Kensington bowlers William Rice (2-45) and Jay Temme (3-54) picked up wickets, but it unfortunately wasn’t enough to secure a victory.

C Grade: Kensington vs Sturt – Kensington Gardens Reserve
Kensington dominated Sturt in their one-day game at Col Waite oval, bowling Sturt out for just 111 in 29.1 overs. Jamieson Payne led the way with 3-6, an impressive effort after battling illness during the week, and young Suhas Challa took 2-7 in a superb bowling performance.
Exciting junior batsman keeper Taite Brooke featured after an impressive state junior representative tournament, giving a glimpse into the exciting talent. He kept tidily showed maturity beyond his years in his composed 19* from 35 balls working with stand in skipper Fred McClure 67* from 75 to guide the team safely to victory.
Kensington chased the target easily, finishing on 2-113 in 23.4 overs, with Fred McClure top scoring with an unbeaten on 67.
D Grade: Kensington vs Sturt – Price Memorial Oval
Kensington D Grade had a convincing win against Sturt in the D grade largely due to a strong performance with the bat. The batting lineup enjoyed key performances with the bat from Sangam Gautam who played a stand out innings hitting 86 not out from 78 balls, showcasing his class. Young son of a gun Archah Parisi also impressed in his first senior game with a well-made 37 from 46 balls. Earlier wickets were shared across the bowling ranks with Kamencak, George, McMahon and skipper Hopkins all chipping in.
